What made Jim Weaver decide to build boats?
As a lifelong resident of southern Maryland, Jim began sportfishing in the early 80s. He had a successful construction company but he wanted to carry on the tradition that his wife’s family had started. His father-in-law Bill Payne and his wife, Pat had built wooden bay boats in the 60s and 70s following in her parents footsteps. And so the tradition carries on.
Jim and his wife, Vicki along with their two daughters, Michelle and Ashley had always enjoyed sportfishing and being on the water. They had owned several production boats but Jim wanted something a little more. Jim and his captain, Chet Rohrbach, began construction in 98 of their personal boat “Dream Weaver”. Shortly after completion, the boat was sold. And Weaver Boatworks was born.
Throughout his whole life, Jim has been a detail-orientated person. He strives to create the best in the sportfishing industry.
